ABOUT KARIN
Karin is a visual storyteller who delights in tackling complex problems to make other's visions come to life.

Karin is a passionate, detail-oriented professional known for her holistic, collaborative approach to complex problems. Her success with teams stems from an intuitive understanding of individual needs, allowing her to lead projects with clarity and empathy.

She is currently the Head of Props at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, MN, where she oversees a team of talented artisans producing nine shows annually. Prior to this, Karin served as Properties Director at the Alley Theatre for 17 years, managing over 181 productions and designing the beloved annual staging of The Santaland Diaries. Her earlier roles include positions at Studio Arena Theatre (Buffalo, NY), Merrimack Repertory Theatre (Lowell, MA), the Geffen Playhouse (Los Angeles, CA), and the Santa Fe Opera.

During the 2020–2021 pandemic years, Karin launched two small businesses: SD Arts Co., an Etsy shop for handmade goods, and Karin’s Kitchen, a cottage bakery.
​
Notably, she led the restoration of the Alley Theatre’s props inventory following Hurricane Harvey in 2017—cataloging 88,000+ items, managing salvage operations, and serving as the Subject Matter Expert for insurance documentation.
​
Karin currently serves as President of SPM (Society of Props Managers), working with a dynamic board to support and uplift both current and future props professionals. She is also a member of USITT and holds a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology from Florida State University.
